Broke the fuel line connector off at the pump, any advice?
So my fuel pump went out in my 96' 850 and i've been working to replace it. Unfortunately though, it seems I have broken the connector that goes from the fuel line to the tube on top of the pump clean off (pics below). I may have underestimated how old and brittle this rubber/nylon has gotten. Anyways, i've been trying to do some searching online and I'm a bit stumped. I need my car and it's already been off the road for awhile due to parts/availability issues. My friend seems to think it may be possible to splice them back together or replace it with something aftermarket because OEM fuel lines are expensive and hard to come by. Any advice?
If they are both broken your best bet is to find a used pair. One of those is the return line, that is under very low pressure - the other has up to 60 psi in it. You might be able to jury rig something - but I wouldn't rely on it - there are no barbs on the pump metal nipples to keep the rigged hoses from slipping off and that black plastic tubing goes all the way to the front of the car. Here's a sample parts page. With knowledge of the engine you have I could possibly post the correct parts page.
You could try to find used hoses - I use Voluparts.com in Atlanta for used parts 404-352-3402. But realistically they don't separate and label hoses and brake lines and stuff like that (no demand) - it's all just in a pile and you have to match yours up.
These parts are still available from the dealer. Considering the condition, I would but two new lines. Delivery line is $48.71 part #1270408 and return line is $24.82 part #9146390 Riley Volvo

My engine designation is B5254S. Do you know where on voluparts I could find a delivery and return pipe?

I would definitely need two new lines. Those prices aren't so bad, will they work with my car though? It seems those specific ones are for the turbo model. My engine designation is B5254S, car is a base 96' 850 wagon with the M56 manual if that helps.
Me and my friend went to the parts store and got some quick release connectors and some clamps and did this. Bit of a ghetto fix but it does start and idle, albeit a tiny bit roughly (granted my cars been off the road for 2 weeks now so it could also be that). There is a slight leakage particularly on the pipe on the right so i'm gonna go to the parts store again and get a tighter clamp.
Gettin' closer.
Hopefully this will at least work till I can obtain new lines and/or just take it to the local Volvo mechanic.
- UPDATE 2 - Through a system of clamps, tape and some sealall we were able to stop the leaks completely and the car is running just fine. Sometimes redneck engineering is the best engineering.
