Broke my son's '96 GLX - Won't crank
I bought my son a 1996 GLX from a trusted friend for his first car. Unfortunately, neither he nor I know how to drive a manual transmission. A family friend was teaching me how to drive it, and after a few stalls, I was starting to get the hang of it.
Then I did something that was probably not good. I forgot to press the clutch in after I stalled it, and tried to start it in gear. It lurched and stalled.
From that point on, it will not turn over. I've done some testing, and can confirm that I get 12 volts to the large wire on the starter when the key is set to 'run' and 12 volts to the small wire when the key is turned and held on start. I've attempted to whack the starter with a hammer but no luck as well.
Any thoughts on what the issue could be, or things I could try next?
Thanks!
