Sweet! Glad it worked for u. I am a HUGE fan of that stuff. That's why I always pass the word about it. We all need to thank JimWK for finding it and making that post on his white car. He's the one who started it...........Post pics of the new dye job.
Well, I dyed my bumpers with Forever Black. They did not come out as well as I'd like them to have. I believe the problem was that I did not clean them good enough. The entire process took about 3 hours (I am a slow worker).
I should add that I'm pretty much a perfectionist. If you can tell that it was done, I'm not happy with it. I like things to look like it was replaced. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I did them, and they look pretty good, it's just that I have a couple of spots on them.
When I purchased the car, it had some tree sap on it. On a spot or 2 on the front bumper, I cleaned the tree sap off with gasoline. Well, that left some pretty grayish areas on the bumper. When I cleaned the bumper with the supplied cleaner, it did not do a good enough job. After I applied the dye to the front bumper, I could tell that the bumper was not as clean as it needed to be so I cleaned the back bumper AGAIN with rubbing alcohol. I rubbed it real good so I know it was clean. Well, the back bumper turned out better than the front. So, I applied 2 coats on both the back and the front.
After all was said and done with the bumpers, I can tell that the bumpers probably were never black but a dark gray. Now the door trim is grayish and the bumpers are black. I like both colors, the gray and the black, but the black looks a little better on the yellow. So, I guess I'm going to dye the door trim, then maybe the handles, and every freeking thing else that is dark gray.
I believe the trim restoration dye that Jim used took the bumpers to the dark gray. So, check out Jim's write up and see which is better to use.

Think of this as the "trim coloring time capsule".

And as long as he did, how well has the back to black, showroomnew, forever black and paint holding up over the years ??
How often do you reapply ??
What did you ditch for something else ??

Im actually going to do the bumpers on the yellow next weekend if its not raining.
The red 854 has had them done for 3 years and it hasnt faded or cracked or anything.
The red 854 before

After

Scrub them down good to get all the excess oil off.. Tape it off and then spray... Use light good distanced coats..
Works great on peeling roof trim also
ALSO Make sure you pull the tape and paper off while the plasti-dip is still wet otherwise you will be doing it over cause it will all peel off

I used Trim Black (rattle can) to my bumpers, door handles, mirror trim and front to back roof trim / roof rack. 2 years in and it still looks nice. Just my 2 cents. Just clean it real well before spraying and mask everything. D
Two cents is good. It's nice on a topic like this to see what held up so someone coming along looking to take the time to prep and paint or dye can see what has and hasn't worked and who's recommending what.
By the way, one little torx screw per door and those trim strips practically jump right off the doors. no need to mask the whole door off. Remove little plug, remove little torx, slide strip forward, off. easy D
It's all strictly what YOU like. But if you're going to ask you should say what color the car is or post a picture so we can visualize it
