A/C issue
95 850 Turbo Wagon
First of all I know there a million a/c posts, I know cause I think I read them all BUT I cannot find anything quite like my problem. I hate posting about a problem that has been answered/discussed so often. Forgive me.
Ok, Last fall I replaced my siezed up compressor with a used one, before the compressor siezed the a/c system worked perfectly. I charged up the "new used" compressor but it only clicked on for about 2-3 seconds then would shut off for 5 seconds then on, off...etc. It was cold outside so I wasn't sure if it was cooling the air or not. So, now that it's warm out I turned it on and it still does the same thing but the air temp from the vents does not cool at all. I opened the hood, I have a full charge, only one hose leading into the firewall is cool and the other is warm from the engine. I jumped the low side pressure sensor for about 2 minutes which turned the comp. on until I un- jumped it. The one hose got colder but the other-nothing happened and still no cooler air from the vents.
Related or unrelated-over the winter the car began a terrible sounding rattle, I cannot tell exactly where it is coming from but I'm really thinking it it the compressor as the comp. hoses/lines vibrate alot and actually loosened the condenser bracket to the point the condenser was practically hanging by the lines (fixed this though)
I've read about the reshimming job which I will do but only if I can be 90% convinced this is the problem. I'd hate to put it all back together and still have the same problem. Otherwise should I replace the compressor?. I can get a rebuilt one for near half the price of new. Could something else be the culprit?
Any Thoughts???

I charged it using the "quest recharge kit" It contains oil and gas together, thats the funny thing-it didn't even take the entire can maybe only 3/4. I figured I'd have to put in one can of that plus a can of straight gas but it wouldn't take it. Could there be air in the system which needs removed?
Problem solved! I guess the charging procedure from the can is not a good idea when the compressor has been completely emptied. I took the car to get the system evacuated and recharged and I now have ice cold air! WHEW!!
