Default Cabin Air Filter

Can anyone tell me if the 850s came with this filter stock or was it a dealer option?

Most of them didn't come stock. If the evaperator was replaced then it should have one.You can check by opening the hood.On the passenger side at the bottom of the windsheild there is a plastic cover.Remove the 2 t-25 screws on the far passenger side.Lift up on the plastic cover and look under. You should be able to see if the filter is there. If not there will be a plastic ring there. You can purchase the filter and housing and install it on your car.

Most likely your car has one.To find an 850 out there that doesn't have one and has never had the evaperator replaced is rare.

Default Cabin Air Filter - Where to find retro housing?

Anyone know where can I buy the housing to add a cabin air filter to my 1996 850? This will be in conjunction with the evaporator replacement. Thanks.

You'll need the ACC Cabin Filter Retainer and Cabin Fresh Air Filter or Charcoal Cabin Filter.

Or, go to the dealer.

I'm planning to get the box and the filter installed in my 850 as well. I believe some models dont have that installed, and I dont think its about having the evap replaced.

I am putting one on my 96 850 as well. I have a 98 S70 and took the retaining tray off of it and put it on the 850 and it fits fine. I tried to get one at the dealer for the 850, they said it was discontinued, however ask for a 98 S70 and it will work. I was able to get the filter from Advance auto for the S70.

I think the OEM evaps come w/ a filter kit to help extend the life. One reason why the evap goes out is from the dirt/dust that it accumulates.

Sometimes it will come with the kit other times it won't.
If the evaperator was replaced at the Dealer they would have installed the kit.
