Can rotors be turned on a volvo?
I heard from a mechanic that rotors on a volvo can't really be turned, because there is not enough metal there (not thick enough). Is this true?
Also, I noticed today that I have a little bit of scoring on my rotors. I have an old 1994 850 and I really don't want to pay for new rotors. Is it possible to just have them put pads on it if they can not turn the rotors? It doesn't look too bad from what I can see by looking at the wheels.
Thanks

I didnt intend on hijacking this thread but I have a question related to this- 95 850. I'm getting the pulse pulse pulse when braking, how can I determine if the problem is fronts or rears. The rear calipers were frozen recently and were changed but I didnt do the rear rotors, seemed to brake fine for a month or so. wish i could isolate fronts or rears see where the issue is...
Daver: you feel it in the steering wheel or in the seat? Wheel = fronts, seat = rears.
And as a general rule, I do what Tech said and replace rotors instead of turning them if they warp. if they warp with the mass currently on them, they will warp again (and faster) with LESS mass to act as a heat sink. That being said, if i have no runout on my rotors, I'm not against hitting them with a super fine cut or with a scuff just to resurface them.

Turning Volvo rotors is not only a waste of money, but time. You end up spending $8 to $10 each to have a rotor that is, at best, at minimum specs. For less than $20, you can buy new rotors.
On any car begin serviced before sale, we NEVER EVER turn rotors, we replacement them if worn.
