Ed, don't go spending a whole bunch of money right off. FIRST, disconnect the fuel line from your fuel bar and turn on the key to see if you get fuel. If not, you've just isolated the problem to the fuel system. Next, find your fuel relay and have it checked...BEFORE THE SHOP TALKS YOU INTO REPLACING THE FUEL PUMPS. If you do have fuel, take your ignition coil and, if you have one, your ignition control module and have them tested.

I had the same type of problem and it was the cam sensor. it had fuel, cranked but no spark. Replaced it with a sensor from Autozone and nothing, it turns out the new sensor was bad so I got a Bosch (oem) from Carquest and all is well. I have also seen the ignition module (on the coil mount) go bad. My diagnostic technique involves trying parts from my wife's 850... cheating but there's no such thing as cheating in auto repair.

Agreed with bossboy...I had a similar issue and was able to isolate it to the fuel pump relay. Quick 11 dollar fix (love ebay!) when the mechanic told me "probably" fuel pump. Have you tested that yet?

+1 on the cam sensor its located on the right end of the exhaust cam under the upper brace undo the 2 bolts and carefully remove and inspect- if broken or damaged -- replace it

great job Dude. If it happens again, though, that's a tell tale sign it is the relay. When my relay went out, the car wouldn't start, then it would, then it wouldn't...then it finally went out for good.
