Default car wont start

hey guys we have a 94 850 turbo that will not start and i was wondering what could cause this. the car cranks over sometimes but when it does it will only stay running while revving. once we let off it dies. Now my friend was saying the maf sensor is a common problem to these cars, could that be it? i also noticed when we turn the key to ignition you hear a whining sound coming from the passenger side engine bay. any help would be appreciated thanks

It sounds like the coolant temperature sensor might be bad. Is the whining the engine cooling fans coming on? Is the check engine light on at all?. If so, you need to pull the codes to give us a better lead on what is going on. If the light is on and you come up with code 1-2-3, then it is most likely the coolant sensor
