CD Changer SC 710 not working
I just got a 1996 Volvo 850 from my father, who has had it for the last 4 years and maintained it well. I love the car, but as of the last few weeks, I guess, the CD changer has stopped working. It's an SC-710 6 CD changer, and it's worked great up till now, but now when you hit the CD button it just says E-2 and doesn't play. My dad isn't sure whether there's still a disc in the player or what but the box that holds the CDs is now empty and it still doesn't work.
I've read that "popping the fuses" might fix the problem, but I don't know what that is.
Please advise.

RE: CD Changer SC 710 not working
Hello SupremeBeing,
First of all, welcome to the forum! I hope you find it helpful & enjoyable.
As to the CD changer, I am useless as my 850 did not have such fancy device. Please wait a day or two, until someone else with the necessary knowledge can reply to you. In the meantime, this may be of some reference to you:

RE: CD Changer SC 710 not working
I'm sorry that your radio was configured differently.
At this moment, I can only suggest another cheap fix, until someone who has dealt with the same issue could reply.
Optical drive devices (CD player, DVD, etc) generally last about 7-10 years (longer if you're lucky), then they quit. Most often it is the laser pick up that gets screwed up. You could perhaps try commercially available disk player cleaner and try to blow dust off from the disk tray insert opening with a can of air duster.
This is all I can do for now. I wish I could help you better.

I have no clue where to find radio codes/explanations...
So I can only recommend you call the dealer and ask if they can find out what e-2 means. If they can't, give them your VIN and ask for your reset code/radio code and maybe try disconnecting the battery to reset the radio.
