Cheap Performance Upgrades?
Well to be truthfully honest you bought the wrong car to do this with.
Why? Your not turboed, thusly there aren't many options for you and nothing is cheap when it comes to Volvo and performance.
1. I would seriously sell it and buy a turbo model. Best move you could do.
2. If you cannot sell it then have a local muffler shop make you a 2.25"-2.5" mandrel bent or crush bent catback system with a baffled muffler such as a Flowmaster. With non turboed Volvo's you want back pressure and that is why I am suggesting 2.25"-2.5" and I wouldn't go bigger on that. Also crush bent will add more back pressure over mandrel bent. Mandrel bent is used in turboed applications.
3. You can make your own custom CAI, wont net you much of anything. A little bit of sound and some under the hood flare.
Other then those two things I would stick with suspension mods and apperance mods.
