Default cheap/free perfomance upgrades

just kind of a fun discussion here: what are some free/ very cheap performance upgrades of just car customizations you've performed? as far as free upgrades go for me, i have removed the little plastic piece that is in front of the intake behind the grill, just a tiny thing to improve a little air flow. i have also relocated my horns to get better air flow. also, not a free, but very cheap thing i did was to insulate my turbo charge pipes with heat tape. what have you done?

Great idea for a category, I was thinking how to get the perfect stance for each indivual owner. How about using sandbags, maybe in the trunk for the rear and in the engine bay for the front, or over the wheels, then add or subract to get the desired result.

Are you talking about what I think your talking about? Which is adding sandbags to "LOWER" your ride height.

If you are, that is probably one of the most weirdest things I have ever heard of doing.

1. YOUR ADDING UNWANTED WEIGHT TO YOUR CAR.

2. YOUR ADDING UNWANTED WEIGHT TO YOUR CAR.

3. So you put them in the engine bay, say one comes loose and falls. Creates a road hazzard on the road. Causes an accident for someone. Not to mention potential causing one for you.

4. Lowering springs aren't cheap, but they aren't like the end all most expensive aftermarket part for your Volvo either. Unless your talking coilovers and or a very custom spring and or custom coilovers.

??????? maybe using the weight as a measurement in inches of how low you want to go and then searching for the method to do it.

Well the sandbag is a good idea if you just want to see how your car looks when it is lowered lol..

i had to take a bunch of heavy boxes the other day and made my car look way better!!! makes me want to get new springs even more now lol..

gave it a little sag

Without weight

I stumbled across this "G Force Performance Chip Kit for Volvo V70" yesterday.

http://www.gfchips.com/volvov70.aspx

It claims to improve the hp by up to 60hp while improving the fuel economy by 4 mpg. The regular price is $399 but it's on sale now for $69. Could it be real? Has anybody heard or tried it? If their claims are true then why are IPD and Elevate charging about $900 for their program upgrade?

Where is the waste gate rod?

Also, does the K&N drop in air filter actually work? I heard people saying that all it did for them was making the engine louder and that they could actually see holes in the filter so that it'd be worse in filtering out the dust.

Never mind about the G Force chip. I found the following thread.

Sounds like total bogus.

i am not sure how to go about finding/tightening the wastegate rod. anyone have pics?
also, when you do the research on K&N, it really is a great product. i definitely got more noise when i just slapped a generic cone filter on there, but i feel like the larger surface area, and oil design help to get more, cleaner air through faster.
