Check engine light

Check engine light
The check engine light came on in my 1997 850 wagon when a gray/silver hose broke last summer in the back of the engine. Never got around to resetting it. I just had the alternator replaced and that reset the light. But it came back on 4 days later, I am supposed to drive the car to a family reunion this weekend and am not sure if it will hurt to drive the car this weekend and get it checked out on Monday. The car seems to be running strong. but I don't know if this would be an urgent problem or something that can be put off for a few days.

Neither do we.
You need to take it in and have the codes read to see what it is. There is a chance it's whatever you've had for a year and it's not a severe problem that requires immediate attention but it could be something that just happened and is important.
Autozone, Oreilly, Pepboys are a few that will usually do it for free. Get it read and post the code or codes you come up with along with their meaning.

Ok, so I have a question about the codes and I did go to the local Autozone and they didn't have an exact answer for the code in my 96 850 base. The code they pulled is a P0410. They looked it up in their system and the best they could say was it had to do with the air pump system. So I looked at the Vacuum lines and there is a line missing on the air intake (the top one).I can't seem to locate where the other end is supposed to go. I am assuming this is the issue but I didn't see this particular code in the list that is posted. What are your thoughts Kiss4afrog?

Try this.

If yours is non turbo it will have slightly different routing than mine so I can't just go out and take a look. What you're describing is what I think goes to the BCS solenoid on the air filter housing.
