Default Climate Control Leaking

I have a 1995 850 GLT wagon, with the Manual Climate Control system (MCC).

My problem is when I am driving down the road, air comes through the vents even when the fan is off. I can direct the air to defrost, feet or cabin vents, but turning on recirculation does nothing to stop it. When going around 70 on the highway it is like I have the fan set to 2. Is there anything I should look for to fix, or do I have to replace the entire climate control unit?

Have you turned off the fresh air inlet in the green square?

I'll have to check when I drive this afternoon to make sure, but I usually keep it off.

Okay I was testing with the air mix, and having it on/off makes no difference, I tested it with and without recirculation on which also made no difference. I also noticed that the leak is the same with the AC, heat or neither on.

On that system, I don't know how recirc actually works, so the first thing I would do is convince myself that recirc was working with the fan on. If it works with the fan on, then it works. If it doesn't work with the fan on, then you could certainly try to get it working.

I drove one of these 6 years but I never would have even noticed this. If I had noticed it, I would have assumed it was normal.

The recirc does work, but it still lets outside air in while driving and with the air mix off

Have you pulled the glove box to make sure the recirculation lever is still attached? I can remember putting many of those back on, or replacing them when broken. The lever (#18) is moved with #17, an electric motor.

Yup that was it, thank you! If you don't mind me asking, where did you get this diagram?
