Code 222 Srs Light on
My Srs Light came on today and showing a code of 222 which is Passenger -Side Air Bag, Open Circuit. Car is a 95 850 T5 with 160k miles. Thoughts? Thanks.
Check the Purple connector behind the glove department. Just look at it -- do not re-connect or do not do anything with it. If something needs to be done, system must be de-activated first and re-activated later, and there is a procedure to it.
If you don't see any physical problems with the purple connector or wires crushed, the course of action is such:
Dealer has a special equipment for testing. Technician will disconnect the purple connector (i.e. airbag) and plugs the connector into his equipment. Tech will reset the code. If the code does not return, airbag is bad and needs replacing. If the code persists, then Dealer checks the wire from the Purple to the Sensor/computer, by measuring resistance.

Yes. Driver's side tensionser would trigger any of these 4 codes: 231, 232, 233, 234.
There should be a tag on the door with the latest date of SRS service (by dealer). Owner's Manual specifies that airbags, seatbelts with tensionsers should be replaced (by dealer) every 10 years, while wiring should just be inspected. This

I bought both air bags, seatbelt units, sensor/computer, clockspring, plus a few other odds and ends (used) for $ 200 at a junkyard. One bag alone might be about $ 50. Putting it in is very straightforward.... Procedures are simple, if you can follow some very simple instructions... Keep that in mind if you wanna pay $ 1300 to yourself...

Great info.
I called the dealer today for my V90 Airbag service, and dealer told me that they don't replace them anymore. Just check them for error codes. I did some quick research, and sure enough there is a thread on Turbobricks (SIPS Side Air Bag service??? - Turbobricks Forums) that replacement is no longer necessary, unless that component has failed.
