Coolant Temp. Sensor
Hi I have a 850 and after warming up it won't re-start. Can someone tell me what the temp. sensor should read when cold and then when hot or the resistance ohm's when hot and cold .... thanks.

Dont bother, replace it.

While you are at it, don't get a cheap after market one, get a real Volvo one. Many suppliers sell them.
If you have NOT replace the thermostat in a while, replace it as well. |
I would replace it if I knew that was my problem don't want to start replacing parts for no reason, this is why I wanted the proper readings to do a test first.

Google will be your friend.

Best way to ck it is with OBD2 scanner; should read ambient on cold engine and right around 200 F at operating temp.
Does your temp gauge get to 3 o'clock within 5-10 minutes of running? Guys are saying just to replace them because both are common failure points. FYI: via google; see post #10 https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-...sor-iat-68116/ |
Still no work
Hi .... Anymore suggestions now that I replaced the Temp. Sensor and the car still won't re-start after it gets hot, after cool down no problem. I don't like guessing and replacing parts for no reason, this is why I try to do what I can my self the "mechanic" will just say well it was getting bad anyway. Well that could be but still no need to replace something it doesn't need at the time. Any help would be appreciated ....
