Default Cracked Thermostat Housing...NEED HELP!!

I was replacingthe thermostat and temperature sensor just now and I managed to crack the housing!

How on earth do I get it out of there so that it can be replaced! I see three Star bolts...2 on top and 1 on the bottom. I cannot get to the one on the bottom. How do I get to it?

The car is my Mom's daily driver...I'm kinda freaking out! This is an 850 GLT if it matters.

You are going to have to remove the power steering pump and maybe even the alternator.

Are removing the power steering pump and alternator fairly straight forward?

For the most part yes. The alt. has a screw that is kind of hard to find it goes from the back to the front.
Just pay close attention to the metal triangle brackets as you pull them off to make sure they go back on right.

Thanks again for your help! The parts should be here Tuesday. The thermostat and sensor were an easy job until this happened

parts are readily available online. Try FCP Euro, EEuroparts, IPD USA for starters, Tasca Parts is the best priced dealer web store I've found for genuine Volvo parts.

Since you already have the fuel rail off I wonder if you could remove the intake manifold and slide the housing out towards the driver side.?? I would much rather do that then remove the alternator and power steering pump .

If that works and you take the mani off change and clean the pcv and get manifold gasket.
