Sorry to revive but I gots to know!

Hoping the op can clue me in as to where he found the spacer he used as a guide for the drill bit? I would like to file that one away for future use.

yeah... so... I think it was just a random thing I had laying around. But... Look at your local *good hardware store. The little pull out trays in the screw/bolt aisle have what I used.
