Default cup holder?

my car does not have the center console cup holders. i purchased one of those universal cup holders that is supposed to attach to the a/c vent but it didn't hold. then i tried one that is supposed to slide in to the window pane panel but it was too small. has anyone found a cup holder that actually works and fits in the volvo 850? i'm tired of cradling drinks in my lap!

Ummm....yeah. That factory cup holders that came in the center console......

Just buy an arm rest that actually has cup holders. Yours doesn't because it's a really basic trim level that doesn't have all the options.

Default Ref no cup holder

Hi,
I Drive a 97 960 Volvo Wagon - and my cupholders that were built in were just little plastic rings that you pull out....needless to say they broke...this is where it gets good, Get over to Walmart and in their automotive section i found this cup holder , it has one in front , then a small middle area, then a cup holder in the rear - it only costs like $6.00, and it will hold a Sonic Route 44 without dumping...Well I just checked oline, cant find one for you, but..go in person in auto it looks differen one holder front, one back it has a long thing that goes between the front seat...works perfectly for me..let me know if you cant find it, maybe i can help.. Erin

Hi,
I am the one who told you about the Wedge cup holder that I got at Walmart, I kept trying to find one for you....Instead I found it at Advance Auto Parts, go to their website and put in cup holders / It is called a Bell Automotive Wedge Cupholder, and it only costs $5.59, I guarantee its worth it--You wont have to worry about the drinks dumping over - Put it on the right hand side of your car on the passengers side , it sits close to the shifter, but it works for me perfectly...Let me know if you like it...eme erinjohn01@hotmail.com..
Have a good one, bye

Why get aftermarket cupholders when you can just buy OEM ones that are integrated into the armrest and work completely fine?

i drive a 97 volvo 960 wagon...i fit it right to the side of the shifter on passenger side - its a tite fit but fine for me...sorry, just wanted to help

Before I had my 850, I had a 1988 Acura Legend, which did not include cup holders. The cupholder I used was an insulated model that sat on the floor. It was sturdy, never tipped over (there were beans or something similar inside the cupholder to keep it from rolling around), and kept the water cold. I think I still have it somewhere. They used to sell these at auto parts stores in the 80s before cupholders were commonplace, so if you see one at a garage sale, it's worth picking up.

Even if your OEM cup holders work, I would say "get rid of them". You spill coffee over the window buttons? Huh? Never seen anything worse....

My 94 850 Sed slide out cup holders still wk BUT, the FIRST drive after removing the console to replace bulbs and clean it (with a toothbrush no less) resulted in me spilling half a cup coffee w/double c&s all over the entire thing. I'm gonna try one on my Sed!!!

i generally don't have anyone in the passenger seat, but in any case the buckle is still accessible. it fits right behind the cup holder. however, you can also slide the cup holder a little bit forward to make a little more room for the seat belt if you wish.

Default Cupholder positioning

Hi, I just wanted to let you know on my Wedge Cupholder , I push mine more towards the front and i have it flipped around so the part that goes between the seats is facing the passenger side door, so try and flip your cupholder and then for time being dont have to worry about the "sticker that wont come off" for now...ill let ya know if i find something to take off the sticker.

I put on of these in today. It sits about 2" away from the seatbelt buckle. However the holder is not perfect -- it does not have a way to grab the cups and keep them from bobbing. I put in a water bottle today and it kinda sat tilted, guess towards which direction? --- Gear selector and switches.

I have been looking all over the dashboard and console for a good place -- there is none. Another option is to install aftermarket cupholders on the door. I know, it is not the best, but nothing is perfect; anything though is better than OEM's retarded design.
