Default Dash panel lights?

I guess I don't drive that much after dark at the moment but I did tonight and found that half the climate control panel is dark, most but not all switches are dark, the gear selector is dark and the seat heater switches are dark. So what do I need to do? Are there individual lamps for each switch and the gear selector? What about the climate control? A few weeks ago I relamped the instrument cluster and that all works fine.

I can answer part of that. The heated seat switches have their own bulbs hard wired into them, the gear selector has a seperate one. The climate control has two, possibly three globes? Accessed by removing the climate unit (push it forward from behind the unit, take the stereo out.) Wear gloves when you remove the climate unit, there is sharp metal behind thet cuts you as you push it otherwise.

How do access the switches and gear selector?

What you need to do is just a little research. If you're able to pull the dash to do the bulbs you surely can pull the console and take a look. It's pretty easy.

Your right and I have told that to people on other sites. I will read what you gave links for and also search for any other info.

One thing I have not seen is, if the switches have bulbs hard wired in do you have to replace the entire switch or is there a way to replace the bulb?

Every one of my post has links to the bulbs and my instructions. LOL The seat heater switches do NOT have the bulbs hard wired, they are the same as the dash switch bulbs. I've replaced most of mine.

As for the shifter bulb, it is best to take the center console loose and work the bulb out. It's kinda expensive for a bulb. Heck, my stealer sells the small bulbs for $18 each. The shifter bulb is $15 at my stealer and $7 on iPd's site.

Somehow I am not seeing that link but thank you for this one. Expensive little bulbs aren't they?

I wasn't trying to be a ......... it's just easier to send you to a site where they've already explained it rather than go through it again.

Even the hard wired bulbs can be carefully cut out and replaced with bulbs from radio shack.

I've done a few with a dremel to cut the bond and then solder in the radio shack replacements. They are less then a buck each.

Now that I've done all my courtesy lights in LED I'll be going back in and changing everything in the dash and center console to LED too. That's not going to be cheap but I like the light and they are easier on the alternator to run and with my stereo I need to cut anything else down I can.

I've just pulled my switches out, and mine are definantly hard wired into the switch.

Hmmm, not sure why. Mine are not. Just twist out bulbs.
