Dead Gear Position Lights

Dead Gear Position Lights
What's up everybody....i have an issue with my 1993 Volvo 850 GLT that I hope one of you can help me with. For some reason, the gearshift light (you know, the light that illuminates what gear you are in--PRND21), does not seem to illuminate when i turn on the parking lights as well as the headlights. At first, i assumed it was a fuse, so i checked the fuse box to solve the problem, but all fuses are fine. I have noticed this problem with a few of my switches as well. For example, sunroof switch, headlight switch and seat warmer switches all have the same problem--they don't light up!! Here's my question: Do all of these light sources (the gear light and the switch lights) contain bulbs that can be replaced, or do i just bear with the inconvenience of having a darkened instrument cluster? Worse yet, for the switches, do i actually have to buy NEW switches, or can i replace the bulbs inside of them? I am about to replace my center console with a newly pucrchased one from ebay (yes, the old one has been destroyed by unassuming girlfriends and baby siblings), so i was wondering if i would be worth my while to check out the gearshift light. Any responses or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.</P>

more than likely the bulbs can be replaced. i have never tackled a bulb replacement, but i think replacing the bulb on your gear shifter should be no big deal. just remove the console and remove the bulb and put a new one in. when in doubt, consult a dealership or parts store to get the proper bulb.
