Hello -- Moon Roof Anyon?
<FONT face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" color=magenta>Hello. I'm just joining the forum as I am the proud new owner of a Volvo S80. I'm loving it thus far. I bought a '99. I had to share my incident that happened today. I live in New England and it is below zero out today. I had so much dirt and salt on my car I just had to drive through a car wash. Well, as I passed the showers and approached the large heater/dryer/blower my moonroof exploded. The shade was open so the glass came showering down in the car all over me. What a scare! Well, the car wash manager said that it was Volvo's problem as they have these reported incidents! Moonroofs exploding in carwashes!!! Has anyon heard of it? Volvo is covering the cost of repair and replacement but let me tell you that it was scary!<IMG src=smileys/smiley3.gif border="0"></FONT></P><edited><editID>Karen</editID><editDate>38001.6170486111</editDate></edited>
Dear Karen,</P>
Yesterday the same thing happend me. I own a 2001 V70 cross country and and live north of Boston. When I got to the dryer section of the car wash the moon roof explded showering me with glass. It was everywhere! I was cut slightly and injured my neck when the force of the glass hit me on the top of the head. The manager also told me that this sort of thing has happened before with volvos. You are not alone... </P>
Also, the temp. was about 34f so I do not think this problem has anything to do with the severe cold.</P>
PSI thank God that my baby was not in the car because about half of the glass ended up in her car seat.</P>
</P>
I live in New Hampshire and take my my 04 V70 through the touch less car wash at least once per week, never heard of a sunroof exploding. What is the cause hot air, hot water? I don't see how it's possible.
