Did the horn repair
I'm writing this thread for those of you that may have bought the generic horn repair kit off ebay. I bought it and installed it, no particular manufacter or markings. Instructions were easy to read and clear. The whole install was pretty easy except for a small snag.
I won't go thru the entire install and put you to sleep. I did however have to modify the install by replacing some supplied parts with ones that actually worked.
There is a part of the install where you're instructed to install a 6-32 screw thru a piece of metal through a plastic bushing and into what I call body work fasteners. They're flat and clip onto bodywork and contain a hole in the middle where a screw normally screws into. For the life of me I couldn't get the screw to go into the fastener. I instead used a #6 flat washer and 6-32 nut. It's a little tricky getting the nut back where it's supposed to go but very doable and much more secure that ol' body work fastener.
I had to source the nuts and washers so the install started on one evening and finished the next afternoon. Combined time was approx. 2 hours. I like the fact that so far this car is very easy to work on. Timing belt, tensioners and water pump are next.
