Dimmer switch on 850....
Is it true that these go out before all the bulbs do on the dash?
All the dash light bulbs are out at the same time on my wagon. The warning lites work as well as the turn signal and hazard warning lites. But the Speedometer, odometer and LCD at the bottom are out. Somebody told me to replace the Dimmer Switch because they are junk...TRUE?

Not sure about the reliability of the dimmer switch, but the one in my '97 still works fine and I've had to replace a few bulbs. Do the lights on your radio and climate control unit work, or are they out too? They're controlled by the dimmer as well.
Did the lights work fine and then they all went out at once? If so, you may just have to check the wiring on the dimmer. Make sure it's tight, no gunk buildup, etc. You may have to pop it open to make sure the contacts are clean, too.

Well it was the Dimmer Switch. God it's flimsy. It's any wonder why these things go! Compared to an Audi dimmer, the Volvo one is tissue paper. Instead of replacing it I just jumped the Brown/Orange wire and Pink ones. I'll search a boneyard for one but I think all the ones I'll find will be bad.
