Default Disabling Rear Child Safety Windows

I've got a '96 Volvo 850 (base) and I was wondering, does anyoneknow a wayto disable/override the safety mechanisms in the rear windows? Do you know if disabling the system will interfere with any other features or not?

I apologize if this is a duplicate post, but I searched the forums using several different combinations of "disable" "safety" and "windows" and came up largely empty handed.

Thanks.

Do you mean have the switches work from the bakc or the windows go down all the way?

They will not roll all the way down. They were designed not to roll down. I don't think there is enough room to even make them roll down all the way.

Yes, that is what I was asking. I've got a dog that I take everywhere with me, and he's just the right height so that when he tries to stick his head out the rear window, the edge of the glass pressed up into his throat. I took the paneling off the have a look around down there though, and I don't think it's possible...I figured I'd see if anybody else had any success.

Tech is correct, the windows are designed not to roll all the way down. Many (if not all) cars sold in the US since the late 80's are that way

Its a child safety issue. Or a lack of proper parenting.

Even today I see kids in cars/minivans moving all over the place and think what if someone pulls a bonehead in front of this person? Children, and people in general, arent ment to fly, particularly through glass.

Later.

AMEN! You should have seen some of the stuff I saw with kids in cars when I drove truck years ago. Still makes me cringe!

everyone knows the old saying, "if you make it idiot proof, then someone will make a better idiot." a little under a year ago on the freeway near my home, a minivan full of guys (18-25 years old) got pissed at someone for going at the speed limit instead of over it. one of them decided it would be clever to open up the slider door and lean out to flip this other car off as they passed it. the driver of the van, being the mental giant he is, jerked the whell to be funny. he ended up knocking his friend out of the van at about 80 mph. we grow 'em smart here.
