In my '96 850R, the dome light in front of the sunroof does not come on when I open any of the doors. I have it set propperly for it to come on with the door, but it doesn't work. The RED lights on the doors themselves do come on with the door open. The overhead light DOES work when I turn it on manually, so I know the assembly works. Is there a master relay for this light?

 

The switch part for the doors in the dome light assembly might be bad. (contacts)

 

I've disassembled that part and the quality of the components is horrible. Probably the contacts are bad.

 

Thanks for the replies. Tech, I just want to make sure I understood. The switch contacts for which you speak are located INSIDE the dome light assembly? If so, that should be easy enough to fix.

 

You can try most of the time you can't gain access.
Or something is broke that takes way to much time to repair.
