drive shaft vibration 1997 850 AWD 5 spd
Hello this is my first post.
1997 850 turbo AWD 5 spd manual trans
I need to replace the drive shaft in this car. Is there an alternative to buying the whole unit from Volvo.
Thanks

Congrats on your first post! I see you're in the Great White North (aka Canada); enjoying the hockey playoffs?
Assume you mean drive shaft to the rear wheel drive unit? Most just leave it off and go front drive only.
But if you need the AWD you could certainly find a reputable place that rebuilds them. Know I've seen at least one recommendation on this site. Use Google rather than the site's search engine (it generally sucks). Most likely will have to ship it to them unless you can find a good shop in your area.
Most guys would also recommend bone yards (where old cars go to die) but that may not be an option for you; besides it's a bit risky (might not be any better than the one you already have..). Good luck.

What he said.
If you need to you can call some parts stores and ask if they know of a shop that balances drive shafts. If a shop has the equipment to balance they usually have all the equipment to overhaul or build shafts. They you can give them a call for an estimate.
