Default Automatic Trans leak dripping from trans torque mount small side

I have searched and searched and still haven't found a post similar to mine. I have tried looking for leaks at the trans lines and neither radiator or trans side look wet nor do the hoses. When I first realized I was leaking, I had been on the freeway and came home to the smell of burning aft. So I looked under the car and saw fluid sprayed on the oil pan, subframe, and on the cat burning off
So I cleaned it all up last night with brake cleaner and ran it this morning and found ATF fluid dripping off the small bushing side of the transmission torque mount.

Would an axle seal or torque converter seal leak cause this?

I have read about the input shaft seal leaks and I am praying this is not what this is as I just had this trans put in the car in January of 2011

It's dripping off the small bushing side of the mount but where is it coming from ?? Finding the source isn't something that can be done from this end. You need to get up in there and track it down.

You would need to have a pretty big leak from the axle shaft seal to have it literally dripping off the transmission but it is possible. They almost always wear out slowly and seep for a long time before they progress to dripping. You sound like you have a leak that's under pressure for it to have started so rapidly. Being on the freeway could easily have blown the oil rearward and made such a mess of the pan, subframe and converter.
Had the transmission been leaking previously ??

Well I understand that but I am trying to find out what if any other places the fluid could be coming from in roughly that area. I have looked at trans schematics and it doesn't look like much could cause a leak in this area.

Yeah I figured the mess was from spraying on the freeway.

I had the trans replaced with a used one with 83k in jan 2011 and then around march of 2011 the trans top hose blew so we replaced it with oem. Then about 2 to 3 months ago I had a power flush done at the shop with 10 quarts ran through it.

Could be coming from the trans dip stick tube which is right above where your talking about.. or could be coming from the trans cooling lines
just a thought

Alright so I dug a little deeper and found the top radiator connecting trans cooler line is leaking where the hose meets the lower metal crimp. So I guess my next question is what is the best way to replace this hose without ATF all over? and I want to reuse the ATF if I can since it was just flushed in jan.

Is it coming from the connection or the line?

Looks like its leaking from the bottom crimp where the hose meets the metal

That's a low pressure line. You may be able to take out the leak if there's enough extra line.
Cut the metal line with a tubing cutter, then cut the hose an inch back, mate the two and secure with a Gates clamp.

Ok so now I replaced the low pressure trans hose and I still have a leak! Both trans cooler lines have been replaced an it's still leaking in the same spot near the trans torque mount

I guess thats what you get when you do your own repairs. :/ so anywhere else that could leak from this area? Has anyone ever seen trans fluid leak between the engine and trans? I don't have $ to go to a shop for a $90 diag currently so I need to figure this sucker out

Have you cleaned it all up yet, to see where the fresh fluid is coming from?
Have you checked the dip stick tube?
Have you pulled your air box out to see the top of the trans?

I had the air box and battery tray out when I changed the hose. It seemed dry and clean on the top. It seems to be leaking close to where the engine and trans meet. I'm starting to think I had a small trans leak and that's what I smelled but now I'm thinking its the rms:/
And I had the rms done when I had the trans replaced in jan of 2011 so that's why I didn't think anything of it. I also have done the PVC about a year ago so that's in good shape.

Where does the dip stick tube go into the trans?

In the second picture you can just barely see a little yellow from the top of the dip stick to the left of the black hose. You can follow the tube down. There is an "O" ring that is supposed to seal that tube to the case.

I believe it is possible for the tranny to leak from between the motor and trans, it would be the torque converter seal. Whenever you get a tranny installed or RMS replaced, all of the tranny shaft seals should be replaced. They are usually 15+ years old.
