Default Dumbest question of the day

I went to check the tranny fluid today and I can't seem to get the dipstick out!!! Does it screw in? Is there some sort of trick?? I pull on it and it just won't budge.

This is the first time I've tried to check it since I bought it 4 months ago.

Any ideas??

It should just pull right out. Sounds like somebody might have jammed it in too hard.

Do you think I should pull on it real hard?? I've put some torque on it and it doesn't come out. I'm afraid to snap it off or something.

Pull hard the seal hardens to the pipe.

Keep tapping it lightly with a plastic/rubber mallet and when pulling on it give it a twist. Also, see if you cansoak the area with clean Dexron-III/Mercon and let it soak in for a half hour or so.

As everyone has said. It should just pull out. Once you get it out, I would plan on getting a new seal/O-ring for the dipstick. If it has hardened enough to stick, it will probably tear or stretch when you pull it out.

Finally got it. Sprayed a little WD-40 on it, let it sit for 15 minutes and then it broke loose.

More good news. The tranny level looked and smelled good.

Thanks for your help guys

I was going to say that my reply was the "dumbest reply of the day".

Glad it came off, as well as the fluid being in good condition.
