Hello, I bought an 850 GLT and have been following the forum for a few years, but I have a problem that I just can't seem to solve. So, I decided to join the forum.
My car is a '95 850 GLT euro spec with ECC (Electronic Climate Control), and the part number is 9134769. (I am aware that there may be slight variations in the part number depending on whether it is in Fahrenheit or Celsius, but apart from the front panel, they are the same.)
The issue is that even though the fan level on the ECC is set to 0, when I turn the key to the accessory position, the blower operates at maximum speed. Additionally, the recirculation (rec) and AC functions do not work, and the orange LED does not light up.
I had the same problem back in December 2022, and I resolved it by getting a used climate control unit locally. Now, the replacement unit is experiencing the same problem.
I have ruled out any issues with the blower resistor. In my opinion, I think I need to disassemble the ECC and solder it, but I don't know how to proceed.
I already have three faulty ECC units at home. I would greatly appreciate your help!
check out volvotips.com for a diagnostics plan and how to read ECC fault codes. Keep in mind that the ballast resistor only impacts the lower speeds and is not in the circuit at full speed so a faulty resistor may present as a fan going full speed when the controller selects a lower speed.
