Default EGR or PCV Hoses?

Hi i have a 93 Volvo 850 GLT. When i had to replace my transmission i had to take off the what i think is the EGR vacuum hoses (the ones that connect to the charcol canister) When i put the transmission back together i think i might have put them in the wrong place. There are two hoses coming out of the canister, a white one and a black one (i think) where are those supposed to go? And will that cause smoke in the dipstick if they're in the wrong place???

Any advice and pictures would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

The 2 hoses from the canister shouldn't affect the engine to make it smoke.
One line goes to the engine for vacuum and the other goes back to the fuel tank.

Sorry for the late response. I know what your saying about the white hose and the black one. The black one is the gas vapor circulation, but the white one i don't know where that goes. Also i have three more black hoses. It seems like 2 of them connect near the middle of the engine right beside theair intake box. Then there's another one that is attached to the intake box itself as well as the whitehose. Is this the right spot for them or didi mess up???
