Engine replacement
Folks,
May be looking to replace the engine on our 95 850 turbo. I have a line on a few decent prospects, but I was wondering, does it have to be an exact year for year match, or would any 94-97 2.3L turbo engine work in a 95 model. I know on some cars, you have issues regarding electronics and such, hoping this is not the case with the 850. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty sure all of the 2.3l from '92-'98 will work. I'm going to pick up a motor for a R this week.
On a good note, I was in the jy yesterday and decided to see if a car would show compression numbers after sitting in the yard for 90 days with no oil in it. I pulled the plugs, installed a gauge, and was able to build about 110 psi by turning the crank over by hand. I understand that it's no guarantee but it's better than a shot in the total dark.
