Engine RPM sound from Radio
Ever since I bought this car it has has a hand full of electrical problems due to corrosion (previous owner left hood open during a rainy afternoon) and rodents.
I have soldered in wire splices to fix the rodent damage here and there.
The thing is that the AM radio picks up a wide range of frequencies that match the engine rpm and the speed.
yes, I can tell how fast I'm going by listening to one AM whine and the rpms by listening to another lower pitch whine.
I been researching the problem and my research all points to either a bad ground on the alternator/engine/firewall area or the rectifies of the alternator going.
I can also rule out my stereo system because I cab pickup the same frequencies with a handheld receiver.
so:
Could it be a sign of a imminent alternator death?
Could it be that I have a chewed off ground thanks to rodents?
I know weird things happen with a bad ground.
