Engine Size
Hi,
I don't know anything about cars, so you may make fun of me all you wish for silly questions.
But the reason I ask is that a friend is trying to teach me about cars, because he is so ashamed of my masculinity...
I have a 1995 850 wagon.
We need to replace the CV Axel, and I have found a bunch of good information here (Many thanks) My question is that my friend is at the parts store, and they need to know the engine size to get the right part.
And I don't know where to look. I looked under the hood, where my friend said it should be listed and I can't find the information. All I see is that the engine says 20 valve and there is a plaque with numbers (no words) on the right hand side. I also looked in the door jam and through the manual, and I can't find anything.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.

Hi Tony.
Actually it is your description of the process that I was referring to. It looks clear and conscice. Is there anything else I should know?
As I said. I don't know anything about anything so it is somewhat Greek to me. But my friend says he gets it.

are you doing the driver side or passenger side?
only thing i can say is it might not be a bad idea to use some PB blaster on the bolts/nuts before you start, makes everything alot easier.
other than that i think my writeup covered most of it. feel free to post or PM me if you have any other questions dude.

ummm. well you could find it by the vin for sure. or the title for the car should have it to
in 1995 volvo 850's came with two engine. the 2.4 and the 2.3. the 2.3 was the turbo model and only like 30% of them were turbo.
realistically its prolly easyer to check if you have a turbo or not than it is to find documentation of it.

with the drivers side axle you will get everything undone on the outside, and then you will notice that it is still stuck in the transmission. all you need to do is give it a good tug or two and it should pop out of the trans.
to install the new one, line it up and give it a good shuv or two till it snaps into place.

Well, the deed is done. Success!
It took a while to disengage the control arm (We just didn't know how to do it correctly). Getting the Axel out, took a little coercing, but it popped out after not too long. Everything went together super quick! It was all rather straight forward and (relatively) easy to do.
Thanks Tony!

no problem, first time is a little tricky, but its much easyer the first time after you know how every thing works.
first time i had to move the control arm it took me awhile to figure out wtf was going on...
