We just got a 97 850 non turbo and was told that I have no choice but to get a new engine. Mainly I was told was the head and pistons and couple other things. I am told that the local junk yard will swap the engine for one with a warranty for about 600 dollars. My question is if they have a T5 engine, can they just drop it in? I am sure they wont re-wire anything or fabricate anything so it would have to be literally a drop and plug it in swap. Please let me know my options.

 

If the car was a non- turbo, then you will need to get another non- turbo engine if you want to do a simple swap. If you want to put a turbo engine in, there are several differences you will have to deal with.
