Default Error Codes -- Won't Flash

I have a '95 that has the error code box. When I turn on the key, insert the probe and push the button, I get no flashes. What could cause this?

I'm assuming that if I have the error code box that my car is NOT equipped with an OBD interface.

Thanks
JM

95, if I'm not mistaken, was a split year. Some cars had ODB II and others did not. Do you have the ODB II port under the ash tray? On my 97 there is a little coin slot that you remove and that's where the port is located. Not sure if it's the same on a 95.

My 95 has both the box under the hood and the port under the ashtray. I have cleared my codes under the hood but never tried it with the OBDII, it may not even be hooked up since it was a split year.

It will hook up. You can go to Auto Zone and they will read the codes for you. Sometimes they will clear them also, and sometimes they say they can't do that. What I did before I bought my own scanner ($75 at Auto Zone) was tell them I want to make sure I get the same code twice before buying the part necessary to fix it. Which, by the way, is a good idea.
