Factory security?

Howdy folks. I have a 1993 850GLT. It doesn't have a security system, but I'm told that it has some built in factory security. The problem is that on many occasions we have locked the doors and when coming back to the car, once the door is unlocked the flashers will start flashing and the car won't start....not even turn over. I was told by a mechanic that the reset to this is to lock the doors and then unlock and relock 2 times. This has worked a few times, but I'm not sure if it is the right combonation or if we have just got lucky a few times. My wife has called me several times frustrated out of her goard telling me that the car won't start again!!!! Just today it wouldn't start and we tried everything for about 45 minutes. Finally after trying all different combonations, the flashers quit flashing and it just started. I never want to lock the doors again. Can anyone help me on this issue and maybe even tell me the point to this kind of security if a man with the key to the car can't start it??
I have about a dozen other issues but I'll start with this one...LOL

You start off by saying that the car DOESN'T HAVE A SECURITY SYSTEM... It DOES have a security system. All 850's do. The deal with your's is that someone has disconnected the alarm horn or it has fallen apart. Do a search about the security system horn.
As for dis-arming it and arming it, you should check your owners manual. You should have a remote that arms and dis-arms it. Or the key does it when you lock the doors with the key. When you unlock the door with the key it's suppose to unlock the doors and turn the alarm off.

If you are not using the key fob then using the door key will arm and disarm the factory system. (As Tech Said) so if this is not happening then there may be a switch somewhere that is not being triggered. May I suggest you make a conscious effort to give a full turn of the key when you unlock your door.
Question for Tech:
Tech, I have tried and tried to program a second remote to my 95 850 N/A to no avail. I have run through the process several times on my Turbo with no problem. The security system on the N/A works fine. I have the red alarm relay module under the dash and the remote receiver beside the glove box. It will not program. I took the receiver from my T-5R and put it in the N/A and still nothing. I programmed this second remote to my Turbo without issue so the remote is fine.
My question...are there different remote/receivers where the receiver requires a specific model number remote/Fob?
