Hey all,

I have a 1996 850 base and have a few questions about the possibilty of a security system.

There is a red light that flashes on the dash when you lock the car with the remote, also, if i open the door without using the key or the remote (reaching in an open window and unlocking) the 4 ways flash.

My question is, is there supposed to be some kind of horn sound or siren along with the flashing?

If not, can something be done to make the factory alarm audible?

Any input is greatly appreciated

P.S. Anyone who tries to tell you that a blower motor and fan speed resistor replacement is a hard job.... they are cracked. Total time i had invested in the two... 1 hour... wish the rest of the automotive world could figure out how to build servicable cars.

 

if i do the same thing on my car 1996 850 cd the 4 ways flash and the horn sounds

 

Open the hood and look on the firewall.The horn should be mounted on the firewall at the back of the engine.
Almost straight infront of the red light on the dash. The horns are known to go bad.

Is this a seperate horn from the two mounted behind my grille?

 

yes, it is separate

 

It is mounted behind the engine on the firewall.
