Default Factory Stereo Wiring Harness

I have an sc-710 factory stereo that came out of a 98 V70 -
i am trying to put it into my 1993 850 GLT - the two connectors in my dash are 14 pin connectors - and every factory stereo i seem to fine has two connector ports that are different than what i have behind my dash.

i have attached a picture of what the wires behind my dash look like

what can i do to get this or any other one installed - i was going to order a SC-816 on e-bay and use my mp3 changer - but the connectors on the back of it are the same as the stereo that i have - and it will not work - i dont know if i need an adapter cable or if something is missing from my factory setup - the original stereo did get stolen from the previous owner

any help would be greatly appreciated

Check at www.crutchfield.com to see if they have the wiring harness. They are one of the better ones at having odd stuff.

Particularly since it is covered with the foam I don't think that connector has anything to do with the radio. My Platinum with the premium sound amplifier has foam around the speaker wire connector where it ties back to the amplifier harness but it is otherwise the standard connector.

If you can get some clearer pictures of the connector and the connector that was pictured behind it in your original picture I might be able to identify what it should go to. Also, post back and list the wire colors going to the connector in the predominate color/stripe color format.

Lastly - Is this a European car?

These are all great questions and, yes, clearer photos would be better. I am no photographer but I try to check my pics before I post and even I post the odd fuzzy one. Check the setting on your camera and you may find that it has a setting for close up (Mr. Damille) shots.

i have attached 4 pictures - two are of the shorter of the two wires behind my dash

the longer of the two wires is the one that has foam around it

i'm not too concerned with being able to use the factory stereo i have - it would just be nice to have something in the car at the moment - i am just concerned with when i put an aftermarket stereo in the vehicle as to if i need to wire both of those harnesses up or just one

and if so which one - i am leaning towards the one that has more wires coming off of it - i tried to get a good picture of the wire colors for each connector

any advice would be greatly appreciated - as far as i can tell their is not an amp anywhere in the vehicle but it does have 8 speakers total

2 in front dash - 2 in front doors - 2 in rear doors - and 2 in rear deck

I still can't tell the precise wire colors and stripes from the pictures but the wires for the radio are as follows:

Left Dash - Red/Wht +, Yel/Wht -
Right Dash - Yel/Grn +, Grn -
Left Front Door - Grn/Wht +, Grn/Brn -
Right Front Door - Red/Wht +, Red/Blk -
Left Rear Door/Rear Deck - Brn/Wht +, Brn/Blk -
Right Rear Door/Rear Deck - Pnk/Wht +, Pnk/Wht -
Battery Power - Red
Accessory Power -Yel/Vio
Ground - Blk
Lighting - Pnk
Antenna - Blu/Wht

You should be able to simply buy a wiring adapter that connects your stock car wiring to the aftermarket head unit... There's a little wiring involved matching up the colors but you can get the adapters from best buy or crutchfield.com.
