Default wire harness for after market stereo install XC90

2004 XC90
factory radio.

got an alpine want to put it in.. got all the right bits and bobs for it (i think)
except that the guy at best buy said i needed a wire harness for it and gave me the model and type of a compatible one.
scosche VO03B

so i ordered it from buy.com

arrived today but on the packaging it says it's for "volvo s80 2000 and up"

??? is it possible it's a universal type wire harness? or did i get screwed by the noob at best buy??

That's probably it.. The link below is from the mfg for an xc70, they d/n list and xc90. Probably the same plug. What kind of dash kit did you get?

so after about 5 hours, the installer said

"this wire harness doesn't work"

so.. he told me of a local place that claimed they had one that fits. went out there.. paid for it.. brought it back.. that too does not work.

it is my conclusion that there is NO wire harness for a 2004 XC90 for an after market radio install.

looks like i'm going to have to "hardwire" it

To install aftermarket radio you need to remove the factory CD changer, HIDE AWAy (do not unplug or remove) Factory face panel where all the buttons are, then connct your new radio to a speaker harness AFTER factory amp-do a search, someone done it before.

Do not remove factory radio completely, remove CD changer only, otherwise u get some codes in you system that cannot be removed.
Another option is to go to the dealer and "UNINSTALL" factory system through the Computer like it never was there, then you can install aftermarket.

I don't have a CD changer. Only the factory installed radio.

it does not matter- your "radio" connects to amp via fiber-optic cabe, you can still remove single CD player, and hide away the face plate, then install aftermarket radio/ DVD/ CD ?whatever and connect it to the speaker wires after factory amp.

Best to go to a pro unless you know what you are doing.
