Talking Finally Done!!!

Well, I was finally able to install the OBX Exhaust that I have had laying in my garage for the past two weeks as well as the straight flange turbo housing that I received.

Whole project took an unsuspected beginning with my car being broken into the night before I went back to my parents house to work on it...

At least they were nice about and didn't do anymore damage to my car.

Once home I got started on the removing the turbo to exchange the conical housing found on 94 and 95 Turbo 850's to a straight housing that will fit the exhaust. This was my favorite part because I was able to find out a couple things about my turbo.

Turbo out!

I was speechless upon taking out my turbo. Once removed I inspected the condition of the housing. It turns out the wastegate on my turbo has been stuck open for who knows how long.

Got boost? I didn't.

Not only was the wastegate stuck open, preventing me from ever creating boost, the housing around the hole was cracked and there was a small chunk of the housing that was ready to come off...However, the housing may have been bad, but once it was off and I was able to get a look at the blades and the shaft, I found there to be no shaft play at all and the blades were in perfect shape. I was stunned to see my turbo in such great condition.

The new housing:

Housing on. Turbo back in. Now for the exhaust. Current exhaust had a couple of issues....

New exhaust with old exhaust.

Overall opinion of the exhaust: I was more than happy with this exhaust. It fit like a glove. My Dad was super skeptical at first, knowing it was something that I just bought off of Ebay, but once it was in he was in shock at how well it fit. I didn't have to do any modding what so ever to make it work. The tip may stick out a little further than some people would like, but I don't mind it. Let's people know I don't have some stupid ricer can on there.

And now that I have a working turbo and a new high flow exhaust, it's like I'm experiencing my car for the first time. I had no idea this car had the power that it does. I'm falling in love with Volvo all over again. Aaaaahhhhhh.

It sounds great. Not too obnoxious either like those cans that people just put on the end of their mufflers, sounds nice and tuned. Plus the spool up time was like cut in half, I guess now that my turbo is actually spooling up.

No, I don't. I'm starting to think about it though, because my turbo is in such good shape.

Yeah. Well when we did the PCV system, and we were able to get a glimpse inside of the engine, at least what we were able to see, it was really clean. And the car recently just had a stage zero done, new hoses, plugs, cap rotor, air filter, plug wires, oil change, etc.

I have a can at the end of my car :/. And it sounds good! Ahaha. I know what you mean though. Gotta get a video dude! Video of outside, drive by, and inside the cabin to see how much drone you have.

I'm sorry about the break in, but I'm glad to hear about the exhaust!

Correct me if I'm wrong but once I was told the white is from oil being blown out the back, or is it oil starvation? One of the two.

It's all good, got a new stereo coming in a couple days. I'll try to do a video soon. And the drone really isn't bad at all, there's a little bit, but I don't mind it. It sounds nice.

And I think that the blueish smoke is more oil burn, I'm not exactly sure though.

Yeah, that would have been nice. But at least now I have the down pipe, so maybe some time in the future if I want to upgrade all I would need is a cat back. It's no biggy though, I'm more than satisfied with the performance of this 3 to 2.5

Are you talking about what the exhaust flange looks like?

If so most likely what happend is the waste gate sleeve walked up then that offset the fuel mixture because the turbo was not working and made it run a little lean. It is a pretty common thing.

Haha, no problem. I thought he was talking about smoke. But yeah, I assumed the white had something to do with the fact that the turbo basically wasn't working.
