The fuel gauge setup is not common to fail. But the sending unit in the tank might be bad.

if if plug my car into a code reader will it read the problems with the ECC?

its blinking, i have the resistor out, and the motor out, i plugged the motor to a car batt charger for a split second and it seem to take off like a rocket...

so i guess that means that its the ecc board or the resistor.? if the ecc board blinks can it still be the problem?

and check this out

i pulled this crossmember off my car, it holds the driveshaft in place so when that rotted out my driveshaft was flaling all over the place... i need a new one now. its going to be hard to find that.. ill check the dealer tomorow..

The Generic ones will not read the ECC.

so as it turns out my motor IS bad..probably took the resistor with it..

how unlikely is it that the ecc unit is also bad.

Usually when the ECC goes it goes up in smoke and smells really bad inside the car.
It usually will not light up anymore.

Just because your radio is locked doesn't mean you have to buy a new one. There should be a code written in your owner's manual somewhere. It's a four number code, it will be hand written most likely by a PO. If not, go to the dealership, they can look up the code for you.

It is in the top of the tank. You access it through the inside of the car.
But you have to remove the rear boards for the cargo area. Then there is 2 covers with 10MM screws holding them on. Remove the 4 screws on the smaller one and then you can access the sending unit.

For the Radio does it say Code or OFF?
If it says off you need to leave the car in the 1st position (Radio only) for about 3-5 hours till it says code. Then get the radio code to unlock it.

It is AWD isn't it?
If so you are screwed. You have to drop the tank.
But normally there is another plate more to the left and closer to the front of the car.

It will not be there. You have to drop the tank to get to it.
The sending unit on a FWD is like under the one board you still have on there.
