You ought to buy one of those stethescopes for cars that have a metal rod on the end and get a good listen to where the noise is coming from.

It definitely sounds top end. I mean, the car has so many miles on it anyways, that I'm going to replace the motor anyways.

May have found one. Same guy who had the other one just sold it and said that he has another one lined up with 112k miles on it from a T5, still in the car. He said that if I'm interested I can come down and listen to it run as well as do a compression test on it if I would like to before I make up my mind. So I said YES. Best of all, he said he would deliver it and all I would have to do is pay for gas money. We'll see what it looks like. If not, then I'm checking out 850tony's.

Obviously not America. haha. I've seen that second one before on VS I think. Australia has something like that too. A pick up that has awesome performance.

Went down to look at that motor today. Unfortunately the one that I was going to look at didn't arrive by the time I got there, but he had another Volvo that he was parting out that had a technically sold motor, but said due to circumstances, I could have that one. 104k miles on it, he had it driving around the parking lot yesterday and said it was a very strong motor, he focuses on Volvos, specifically 850s.

The guy that was supposed to be getting the motor was there too, and also said that he couldn't believe that he was parting out this car (side impact) because of how strong and excellent condition it was. Motor was super clean, no oil leaks at all. Getting the motor and a perfect condition hood for 550...delivered.

All of the costly things are now officially purchased for my car.

Question: Do all of the 95's have EGR? I was looking for the EGR and I swear I didn't see one. I was basically groping the underside of the throttle body and all around that area and didn't feel any metal tube going to the back.

Ohhh, good point, I should have gotten that. I'll get it tomorrow evening when he delivers it. I think I remember somewhere that some 95's didn't have it. I swear I didn't see it. I want to put on an R manifold, So I would have to get a non EGR intake manifold if this does in fact of EGR.

I had hopes of finding an R manifold when I did the engine swap but was disappointed to find the exact same manifold that was in my wagon. I dont know what year they changed it.

Those manifolds didn't come on 850s at all. R manifolds refers to S60/V70 Rs. So there aren't any R manifolds until 2004. they're for sale on VS off and on, usually around 250 plus shipping.

Motor is coming today, the guy spent all friday night pulling the motor and gutting the car before it went to the junk yard that he fell asleep and didn't bring it to me last night like he said he was supposed to. I was pissed. But he's coming today. I'm almost certain there is no EGR on this 95 motor, I looked at a motor with EGR, and it looked different, so we'll see.

Well, looks like I still may be motorless for the time being. The jackass never brought the motor last night, he told me he was going to be at my place between 3 and 7, never showed up, called him probably about 15 times because I had stuff to do, never answered or returned my calls. Finally he calls at about 8 saying he fell asleep and that's why he never showed. I said whatever, bring it tomorrow.

He said he'll have it here by 1 at the latest today. Called him at about 12 30 to see where he was and if he was on track. Guess what? Never answered my multiple phone calls or called me back or responded to my emails. Still have not heard from him yet today. I said screw this, I sent him one more angry email telling him I do not want this motor from him any more and I want my $100 deposit back. I am so pissed right now, bailed twice without so much as a phone call. I probably won't even get my money back.

False alarm. Guy showed up about 15 minutes after I posted that. I actually got a call from some random chick that the guy called because he couldn't find where I lived and he didn't bring his phone, although I specifically told that he would need to call me once he got to my apartment. Whatever, engines in sitting behind my car. It's pretty clean, nice and dry except for the bottom of the oil pan and at the base of the two oil lines, which I will replace anyways. Any recommendations for storing the motor of winter??? I have the TB and exhaust manifold taped up, rags stuffed into the fuel injector holes, the vacuum tree taped off, the oil return line taped off, anything else I should do???

Go buy Fogging Oil from a marine shop..maybe other places that I dont know of as well. Take the plugs out and spray in fogging oil in the cylinders then rotate the engine a turn or two. Spray again and put th plugs back in. You could do the same in the intake too but no guarantee that it will make it to the valves but better safe than sorry. Keep the intake and exhaust capped.

When its time to do the engine may I suggest you pull the pan and replace the sump seal along with the pan O rings for the pump. Replace the rear and front mains too. A little extra work could save you major headache later.

Maybe you are already planning on this, I just need to get it off my chest.

Haha, I plan on doing the rear main seal because of the transmission, I'll probably just do some of the seals that are prone to wearing. What does the fogging oil do? Just coats everything? And how do I turn it?
