Flame Trap
I have a Volvo 850 2.5
I've been looking into issues that have possibly caused problems...
one I have noticed is the Flame Trap, I believe these are not serviced by volvo.
There is a hose that connects to the Air filter tube, it is removed by twisting until it unlocks. I have to change this hose recently and noticed that there was no flame trap as such, or is this hose the flame trap. I get the impression the flame trap is a small filter that fits on this hose . There looked like there was a collection of oil around this. would this cause oil to get onto the spark plug rings? Is it an issue?

Make sure none of the hoses are clogged.
You really don't need the screen/flametrap white piece.
The newer cars did away with it.
The hoses usually clog before the flametrap.
