Default Fog Lights Dead

They just quit!

The long story is that i was messing around with a bunch of stuff at once getting ready for a road trip.....

- replacing odometer gear
- replacing dash illumination bulbs
- fixing faulty * aftermarket * Clear corner wiring/ connection ( it got corroded because the aftermarket harness really doesn't seal water out very well )

Next thing i know i was on the road and the bulb warning light came on the dash. I tested all my lights to find that the fog lights wont come on.

Any idea on where to start looking? My first inclination was to check the bulbs, but both at once? Then the fuse.... that was fine. What else?

Thanks!

If neither of the bulbs will turn on, i would check the relay for the fog lights. Sounds like it has gone bad.

This just happened to mine today! Ugh. Last time there was a short or something and it blew the bulb and fuse. When i flip the switch the little green fog light doesnt come on. Just change the fuse, it probably is damaged. then see if the little green light comes on. If it does then the bulbs might have blown.

Also, aftermarket fogs, and maybe standard fogs, aren't attached to the bulb failure relay.

good luck

Anyone know where the "real" relay is?

Yes, i though it was green... maybe not, either way, the only relay i can find is the white one that the mod is done on, its not really a relay, just a L shaped pin in the plastic housing.

I think the actual relay is up higher in the fuse box. It might be in the top row.
You have not changed the headlight relay lately have you?

No, havent touched it. As i mentioned earlier, the only other thing that was going on was i was changing bulbs and doing an odometer gear replacement on the cluster. I also had played with the mini slotted dial that control the fog light factory "settings". But i doubt that would have caused this.
