Default Gremlins in my 850 - light issues

Heya Folks.
Well, this one has me....

When I first got the car 3 months ago, there were some issues with the turn indicators. A fresh set of bulbs + new fuses seemed to have fixed everything.

The car. 1997 Volvo 850 Sedan, non turbo.

The bulbs I have replaced include:
- all the rear brake ones except the centre one inside the rear window
- all turn indicator bulbs, front and rear

So, yesterday, I am out running some errands, and stop to grab a coffee, and a guy in a Jeep, comes up and tells me he's been following for for about ten blocks and tells me my rear lights are acting really strange. So this morning I decide to see if I can reproduce the problem he told me about, and yes, they are seriously frakked up.

Brakes. When I depress the brake pedal, both sets of rear turn-indicator lights come on, the brake lights don't come on except the centre on, and the running lights turn off (all on the back).

Turning lights. Be it left or right, when the indicator is one, ALL (both sets of rear brake lights PLUS the centre light) start flashing, and the rear turn-indicator lights are off. It doesn't matter which direction I have it set to.

front lights seem fine.

I ripped out the trunk liner, and checked everything. No water, no moister and no exposed or frayed wires. Everything looks good. I did disconnect the ground wires and clean them.

Now, if I didn't know better, I'd think someone had a warped sense of humour and had screwed with my car.

Of note, we have had a TON of rain recently, but like I said, I can't see any leaks anywhere. And everything looks clean (no rust, etc).

Has ANYONE got any thoughts on this one?

Sincerely,
Scott

Never seen this but maybe the bulb failure relay is bad causing the issue. The bulb failure relay is the blue relay in the trunk.
