front end fog lights
I picked up some new bulbs after noticing a fog light out the other day. Manual calls for H3 55W bulb. The auto center guy said the H3 100w was a standard substitute. Has anyone ever used the 100w over the 55w? Is it safe? I'd hate to end up like the guy with the XC70 with a melted bulb socket.
I'll defer to Tech ultimately, but the issue of wattage is that it heats up the wiring. The housing of the fog light will be fine, but the more watts drawn through all the wiring, the hotter the wiring gets. The hotter it gets, the more possible something melts and shorts.I don't know that it will or won't be a problem because I don't know what gauge of wire is used in the headlight wiring harness and if it is heavy enough for double the power going through it. Again, I'll defer to Tech on it.
Also check walmart or something like that. The more I think about it the more I think the guy is full of S***.
I bought a bunch of bulbs from walmart not to long ago and they are 55W bulbs.
The wiring is fairly heavy for the foglights. Thats why I said you should be fine.
