fuel door hinge

fuel door hinge
I bought a new fuel door hinge, the old one broke. It is a Volvo part. It appears to be the right part except that the black plastic posts are not fitting tightly into the four holes. I don't know if there were some kind of sleeves in the holes before or if I am missing something else. I got feedback from two friends and noone can help.
If anyone has replaced the fuel door hinge, please help. The new hinge just slips easily into the holes and does not hold tight. I have no idea what I could be missing...
Help! Please, and thank you.

RE: fuel door hinge
I'm afraid I don't quite follow what you're saying. There are "pins" (what I think you're referring to as pins) that are part of the hinge mechanism. They fit into four holes in the body. Each "pin" is 2 or 4 (don't remember right now) pins making one pin or I'm not sure what to call them.
I can gain access to the backside, if need be.
I'm sorry that I don't follow you. Thank you for your response.

RE: fuel door hinge
he back side of the hinge has 4 pins sticking up. The 4 are split into 4 peices per pin. On the front side should be a pin stuck to the hinge. You have to break then off and insert into the hole. Then put on the body of the car and push the pins in the center all the way.
If you still don't understand I will try to take pics of a hinge tomorrow and explain again.

Snap off the tabs at the Blue arrows and insert by the yellow arrows.
Or once you snap them off open the hole slightly with a small phillips screw driver then insert in the front.

But you have to install it on the car before you can push them in all the way.
If you go from the backside they need to stick out the front. Once on the car Tap them in with either a small punch or a 1/4 inch extension.
