Fuel fill door motor diagnosis & replacement?
I'm beginning to agree with my wife - this Volvo is a piece of s***. Another thing has broken down... when I need gas on the coldest day of the year so far, when snow/freezing rain is expected...
Fuel fill door does not unlock.
How do I
1) determine if the motor is broken or if its a fuse etc?
2) access the motor to remove & repair or replace it
3) obtain a reasonably priced aftermarket motor
I opened the door with the manual pull loop, but when I push the loop back, the locking bar does not go back in place. So my gas tank is not secure. How do I manipulate the loop to put the locking bar back in place? Looks like I might have to remove the inside trim panel... how is that held in place? Seems to go underneath the plastic windowsill trim, so I don't think its a simple pull-outwards.

There is no motor -the manual release is conected to a solenoid. If you remove the lining over the right side of the trunk, you'll see the part. I had same happen after a gas station attendant tried to open a closed door. After I got to the solenoid, I manually moved release loop few times in-out, and it started to work again. recently, it stopped working -again. Does not bother me on a 10 y. old car...
Well the manual says when the door won't open it has a faulty "motor." Whatever.
I should have mentioned I have a wagon... so I need to know how to remove the trim panel without using a saw.

There is a couple of screws in the panel but most of it is just clips.
Inspect it good and you should be able to find all the screws easy.
