Default Fuel Pump compatibility question..

Hey guys,

Well it finally happened to me too. My 850 died on me last week; started it up, ran fine for 2 seconds, then died like someone turned the key off.

Tracked it down this weekend to the fuel pump; guess it was due at 170K+.

Found the following:
  • FCP has two pumps for the 850; one is bosch, the other is ARC.
  • IPD has two pumps for the 850; a bosch 9480152A which is 43 mm in diameter, and 9480152B which is 38 mm in diameter.
Now my old pump is 43 mm diameter but looks more like the 9480152B; see pic below.

Also the Bosch number on mine is 0580453033; doesn't match bosch reference numbers for any of these.

So question is this; are all these interchangeable, or do i need the exact fit? There's aftermarket available too from IPD (Hella); any experience with these?

Thank in advance!

gdog: did I mention that im insanely jealous that you can just walk into IPD any time you want? of course, for me thats probably good that I can't. I'd have a sweet car, but i'd always be broke, and my wife would leave me. LOL

Your better off right where you are.

Believe me, it requires restraint; but then, wives are good for that...

Went with the 9480152A since it was the same diameter as my old one. Wasn't a perfect fit physically but made it work (fuel line was about 0.5" too short and you have to rewire the electrical connectors). Anyway it's back on the road so that's good...
