Default FWD carrier bearing replacement ?

I have a 95 850 manual trans non turbo. The carrier bearing needs to be replaced. Is there any special process that needs to be done in order to do this job. The dealership said i need this "snap ring" that is just a solid ring. He had no idea what it was for or how it was on there but said the book said I need it. More over I need to know if there are any special tools or even tricks to removing and installing the bearing.

Thanks for any input on this,

Gary

Are you referring to the Diff carrier bearing inside the trans?

No it is the axle carrier bearing on the passenger side out near the suspension. The bearing goes in this housing which is mounted to the frame.

You Just Replace the entire Axle... It comes mounted on the axle.

I believe Manual Trans may have a slightly different length, or different splines.. Verify with who ever you order from that they are for a manual

I just got mine thru auto zone, but we have a corporate account with them so I paid $65 for both with lifetime warranty..

But Id go with FCP, if your not getting them locally.

Nothing special - 2 bolts to split, 3 bolts hold the other half to the block.

Good call my friend. FCP has it for about $80.00 Thanks. Bearing alone is $160 go figure that one out.
